Job summary

Emterra Group is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our Surrey head office. You will administer payroll and benefits for 400+ employees across multiple locations, reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager.

This role demands strong organization, accuracy, and analytical skills in a fast-paced environment. You will manage end-to-end bi-weekly payroll, benefits administration, and time-tracking integration, while ensuring compliance with policies and government regulations.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of payroll experience in a multi-location environment.
  • Canadian Payroll Association Certificate – completed or in progress.
  • Experience in Payworks or similar payroll/time management system.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles for journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Detail oriented with strict deadlines and excellent organizational ability.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for 400+ salary, hourly and union employees in the Western Region through Payworks.
  • Execute day-to-day payroll duties including new hires, changes, terminations and ROEs; meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate Time and Attendance system; liaise between branches and management.
  • Provide support in Benefits Administration for all Western Province employees.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues; support Division managers as required.
  • Ensure timely journal entries and payroll account reconciliations.
  • Support quarterly and annual WCB and EHT payments.
  • Prepare and coordinate T4s, T2200, ROEs, year-end adjustments.
  • Create and run reports from payroll or time systems as required.
  • Perform other duties and analysis as required.

Job Summary

Emterra Group is looking for a Payroll & Benefit Coordinator to join our head office in Surrey, British Columbia, reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager. The successful candidate will administer payroll and benefits for about 400+ employees ensuring payroll is processed in a timely, accurate manner and in accordance with Company and government policies. This position requires a highly organized person who can meet deadlines in fast paced, multi-location environment, demonstrating strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Position Description
  • Process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for 400+ salary, hourly and union employees in the Western Region through” Payworks” HRMS integrated employee time and attendance tracking and Payroll System.
  • Execute and manage day-to-day payroll related duties; including setting up new hires, employee changes, terminations and preparation of ROE’s.; ensuring all required deadlines are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Function as the Time and Attendance System Coordinator acting as a liaison between Branch locations and management regarding Payworks Time & Attendance system.
  • Provide support in relation to Benefits Administration for all Western Provinces Emterra employees.
  • Investigate and resolve any Payroll issues, supporting Division managers as required, including Benefit inquiries.
  • Ensure the timely processing of journal entries, and accruals into Accounting System including supporting payroll account reconciliations.
  • Support with preparing, reconciling quarterly and annual payments for Western Provincial WCB and EHT accounts.
  • Preparation and coordination of T4’s, T2200, ROE’s, year-end adjustments.
  • Create and/or run Reports from payroll or time and attendance system as required.
  • Other duties and analysis as required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 3 – 5 (Three-five) years of payroll experience in multi-location environment.
  • Canadian Payroll Association Certificate – completed or in progress.
  • Experience in “Payworks” or similar payroll and time management system is required. Experience in other large third-party Payroll software will be considered in place of Payworks.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles sufficient to perform journal entries and payroll account reconciliations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics “Business Central” would be an asset.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills in working effectively with various levels of staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Detail oriented and adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and must be able to multitask.
