Are you an Experienced Payroll Professional? Looking for a great part-time schedule?

Canterbury Coffee Corporation is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team in Burnaby. This is a permanent part-time position offering a consistent Monday–Wednesday schedule, competitive hourly pay and the opportunity to take real ownership of payroll administration and payroll-related financial processes.

You’ll work with ADP Workforce Now and a managed payroll provider, while partnering with Finance and People & Culture to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant and fully reconciled.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end administration and financial accuracy of payroll, including:

Payroll Administration
  • Enter and verify employee payroll information in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Review timecards, employee changes, earnings, deductions and adjustments.
  • Work directly with our ADP Payroll Specialist to complete payroll.
  • Process off-cycle payments, corrections and special payroll requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues.
Payroll & Finance
  • Review and post the General Ledger Interface (GLI).
  • Prepare and validate payroll journal entries.
  • Complete payroll account reconciliations, review trial balances and investigate variances.
  • Prepare accruals and adjustments.
  • Work with Finance to identify and resolve discrepancies between payroll and financial records.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Liaise with ADP to maintain accurate payroll coding and ensure all changes and enhancements are properly reflected in the General Ledger (GL) interface and coding structure.
  • Ensure payroll remittances are accurate and completed on time.
  • Validate CRA, Workers’ Compensation and Employer Health Tax remittances.
  • Maintain payroll reports, templates and documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end payroll activities.
  • Maintain strong payroll controls and audit-ready records.
What You Bring
Required:
  • 5+ years of payroll administration experience.
  • 2+ years independently managing payroll financial processes, including GLI, journal entries, reconciliations, trial balances, variance investigations, accruals and adjustments.
  • 1+ year of ADP Workforce Now experience.
  • Experience working with a third-party or managed payroll provider.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation.
You’re someone who:
  • Catches the details others might miss.
  • Takes ownership and follows things through to completion.
  • Confidently investigates why numbers don't balance and figures out how to fix them.
  • Manages competing priorities without losing accuracy.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally.
  • Works well independently but knows when to collaborate.
  • Handles confidential payroll information with discretion and integrity.
We offer:
  • $25–$35/hour, depending on experience.
  • A predictable 15-hour-per-week schedule: Monday–Wednesday, 9:00 AM–2:30 PM.
  • 6% vacation pay.
  • 1 paid personal day per year.
  • 5 paid sick days per year.
  • Short-Term Disability Benefit Plan
  • A casual, welcoming work environment.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Access to our on-site fitness facility.
  • Employee pricing on our coffee products.
  • The opportunity to work for a Canadian company with a strong community focus.

Applications are welcomed from all individuals, including women, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of our company.
