Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Cranbrook, BC, is seeking a Casual Nursing Unit Assistant to join East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The role features day shifts, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, with a casual schedule and a variety of clerical duties in a patient/resident care area.

Responsibilities include processing physicians' orders, coordinating unit communications, scheduling appointments, maintaining charts, and data entry into health record systems.

Qualifications

  • Typing test – Minimum 40 wpm
  • Nursing Unit Clerk – Certificate or proof of program completion
  • Education & Experience – Grade 12 plus one year recent related experience (or equivalent)
  • Resume – Highlighting your skills and relevant experience
  • Cover Letter – Include your availability to start a new position

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizing, processing, coordinating and transcribing physicians’ orders
  • Acting as a communication link for the Unit
  • Scheduling, booking and coordinating patient/resident appointments
  • Assembling and maintaining patient charts and transcribing data into health record systems (MARS, Kardex, CarePlan, EHR)
  • Clerical duties - keyboarding, data entry, filing, preparing and maintaining statistics and reports
  • Maintaining timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submitting to payroll
  • Observing patient call signals and relaying messages to the appropriate personnel

East Kootenay Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Nursing Unit Assistant to join their team in Cranbrook BC!

Hours of work are days Monday to Friday – 08:30 to 16:30

Days off: Sun, Sat, STAT

What Will You Work On?
Duties

In this role you will perform a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient/resident care area, such as:

  • Prioritizing, processing, coordinating and transcribing physicians’ orders;
  • Acting as a communication link for the Unit;
  • Scheduling, booking and coordinating patient/resident appointments;
  • Assembling and maintaining patient/resident charts, inputs patient/resident data and transcribing information into relevant systems such as MARS, Kardex, Careplan, charts or electronic health record systems;
  • Clerical duties - keyboarding, data entry, filing, compiling, preparing and maintaining statistics, producing reports, delivering and picking up items, maintaining unit supply levels and meeting minutes;
  • Maintaining timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submits/enters to payroll systems;
  • Observing patient/resident call signals and relays messages to the appropriate personnel.
