Hawkesbury and District General Hospital is seeking a Patient Aide for a temporary full-time position at our main Hawkesbury campus. The role supports hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities, working with the nursing team to provide direct patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a PSW certificate with CPR certification and is bilingual in English and French, with a strong teamwork and confidentiality mindset.

Qualificações

• PSW certificate or equivalent required.
• Current CPR certification.
• Practical knowledge of both official languages: English and French.

Responsabilidades

• Assist patients with hygiene, wellbeing and mobility as part of direct patient care.
• Support the nursing team in delivering direct patient care.
• Transport patients and deliver supplies and/or samples to the appropriate department.
• Make beds and change wet or soiled linens to ensure patient comfort.
• Assist with personal hygiene (bathing, oral care, shampooing, shaving, skin care, nails).
• Respond promptly to call bells and assist as needed.
• Assist with feeding when requested by the care team and relay patient information to the team.

WHAT IF WE TALKED ABOUT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK?

As part of your duties, you’ll work across disciplines with other team members and be responsible for assisting patients with a variety of needs, particularly those related to their hygiene, well-being, and mobility. You’ll also assist the nursing team in providing direct patient care. You may also transport patients and deliver supplies and/or samples to the appropriate department.

SPECIFICALLY, WE EXPECT YOU TO:

* Help make beds and change wet or soiled linens to ensure patient comfort.

* Bathe the patients assigned to you and assist them with personal hygiene (oral care, shampooing, shaving, skin care, and nail care, except for diabetic patients).

* Assist the nursing staff in responding promptly to call bells.

* Help or feed patients as needed, at the request of the care team, and inform the appropriate team member about the patient’s care.

* Communicate any relevant information about patients to the care team.

• A certificate as a personal support worker (P.S.S.P.) or the equivalent.
• A current CPR certification.
• Practical knowledge of both official languages: French and English.
