Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a permanent part-time team member for its thrift store in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The role involves assisting in daily retail operations, greeting customers, sorting donations, pricing, and maintaining store presentation. You’ll help with inventory control, recycling efforts, and ensuring safety policies are followed.

Flexible schedule, including Saturdays. Experience is not strictly required; willingness to support the mission and work ethic is essential.

Qualifications

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers/donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner.
• Assist with store layout plans to attract customers, window displays and merchandise displays; ensure attractiveness of the store through tidy maintenance.
• Maintain the proper sorting and processing of goods, ensure compliance with quality standards; ensure products are priced correctly per store policy.
• Handle the merchandise safely; assist in stock rotation; bagging textiles to be recycled and placing metal recycling in the appropriate location.
• Respect OH&S rules and safety procedures; assist in keeping the store clean and safe.
• Reports directly to the Store Manager; no direct reports.
