Job summary

Extendicare in Winnipeg is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to assist in planning, organizing, and implementing meaningful activities for residents. You will work under the Recreation Manager and support a compassionate team dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life.

Role requires a college diploma in recreation or gerontology, experience with seniors, and strong communication skills. A Vulnerable Sector Check is required or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with seniors is preferred.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing programs for residents.
• Maintain department records and document assessments and participation.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
• Attend in-service education to stay current on elderly care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan resident activities.
• Facilitate outings and assist with resident assessments.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities; assist with meals as needed.
