Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in St. Albert, AB is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Aide to assist in planning, organizing and delivering engaging programs for residents.

Reporting to the Active Living Manager, the role supports activities, outings and meal services, while maintaining records and ensuring strong communication with residents, families and staff. A college diploma in recreation or gerontology and prior experience with seniors are preferred, with a compassionate, energetic approach to elder

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Energetic and compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver's license to transport residents by van.
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of activities.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Attend in-service education and participate in team meetings.
• Facilitate residents' scheduled outings and assess activity levels.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities; assist with meal services as required.
• Work in a role of trust with vulnerable adults and uphold organizational ethics.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
