Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking an Assistant Teacher - School Age Float for YMCA Before & After School Programs in Stayner and nearby locations. This part-time role focuses on nurturing, safety, and engaging play-based learning for school-age children.

You will support children across several sites, with morning and afternoon shifts, and occasional travel as needed. Join a supportive team dedicated to child well-being and inclusive programming.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle; travel to multiple locations.
• First Aid and CPR (Level C) or complete within 90 days of employment.
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent as required

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to children including toileting/diaper changes.
• Supervise and ensure safety in groups up to 15 children.
• Plan and implement play-based learning per YMCA Curriculum.
• Communicate with families, staff and volunteers on an ongoing basis.
• Provide an inclusive environment, supporting those with additional needs.
• Demonstrate behaviours aligned with our Mission, Vision and Values.
• Adhere to schedule to maintain ratio and notify supervisor of changes.
• Demonstrate flexibility with routines and schedules.
• Other duties as assigned
