Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking an Assistant Teacher for Burkevale Protestant S.S., Penetanguishene. This part‑time role focuses on nurturing children and supporting play‑based learning within a caring team environment.

Applicants should be at least 18, with First Aid/CPR, a Vulnerable Sector Check, and up-to-date immunizations. Shift pattern is 25 hours weekly, mostly school days, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old minimum
• Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within first 90 days
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
• Up-to-date immunizations as per local health guidelines

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to children, including toileting/diaper changing, first aid
• Actively engage with children and supervise groups of up to 15
• Plan and implement play-based learning per YMCA Curriculum
• Maintain positive, professional communication with families, staff and volunteers
• Provide an inclusive environment for all children including those with exceptional needs
• Adhere to schedule to maintain ratio and notify supervisor of changes
• Demonstrate flexibility with routines and schedules
