The City of Vernon is seeking Recreation Leader I for ball hockey and basketball programs that run evenings and weekends. You will deliver pre-planned activities and ensure participants have a positive, safe experience.

Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiastic energy are essential. Responsibilities include leading activities, supporting inclusive recreation, enforcing rules, and coordinating setup/teardown.

Qualifications

• Experience participating or volunteering in recreation programs.
• Ability to understand, follow and carry out oral and written communications.
• Able to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and co-workers.
• Imaginative and flexible to ensure a fun environment for participants.
• Work well as part of a team.
• Strong public relations and communication skills.
• Physical strength to lift up to 25 pounds and stand/walk for several hours.

Responsabilités

• Implement activities as planned.
• Lead or host quality recreation programs.
• Provide one-on-one client support for inclusive recreation or program needs.
• Enforce rules and procedures for participants.
• Monitor activities and track attendance.
• Ensure participant welfare during all activities.
• Prepare equipment and supplies; inspect area and report repairs.
