WA Day Elementary School in Fort Macleod, AB, is seeking a Part-Time Permanent Custodian (6 hours per day) starting after 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with potential for evenings or weekends.

Reporting to Health & Safety Coordinator and School Head Custodian, the role requires independent work and responsible facility security. The CUPE Local 2133 position mandates a High School Diploma and positive interaction with staff and the public.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect and sanitize restrooms, surfaces, and fixtures.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum and maintain floors.
• Lock and secure facilities after work.
• Assist with snow/ice clearing as needed.
• Report maintenance issues to supervisor.

Part-Time Permanent Custodian

WA Day Elementary School, Fort Macleod

Livingstone Range School Divisionis accepting applications for a Part-Time Permanent Custodian (6 hrs per day) at WA Day Elementary School located in Fort Macleod, AB. The shift starts after 3:00 pm; Monday to Friday, with the possibility of additional hours in evenings or on weekends.

The applicant must be able to communicate and interact positively with the public, co-workers, staff, and administration to ensure all needs are addressed at the site.

Typical duties of a Housekeeper include but are not limited to:

• Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting washrooms, fixtures, and partitions
• Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting furniture, counters, doors, and other surfaces
• Dusting and cleaning windows and window coverings
• Operating and maintaining custodial equipment
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and maintaining floors
• Locking doors and windows and securing of Division buildings
• Garbage collection and nightly removal
• Preventative maintenance – tightening furniture or changing light bulbs
• Snow and ice removal from doorways if needed

Housekeeping work may include physical demands, e.g., lifting chairs, moving furniture or boxes of materials, and climbing stairs/ladders. The daily work routine involves the use of various cleaning chemicals.

This position will report to the Health and Safety Coordinator or designate, the School Head Custodian as well as the School Principal. The ability to work independently and secure the facilities is essential.

Mandatory Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent

• Capable of performing routine and repetitive tasks daily
• Display a good working knowledge of all chemicals/procedures used by caretaking staff

Fitness and Abilities

• Able to stand or walk for extended periods
• Able to lift and carry up to 22 kg independently
• Able to work in a highly active physical environment
• Able to work with a variety of chemicals

Conditions of Employment

• A satisfactory police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment.
