Job summary

The Town of Ladysmith is seeking a Caretaker Custodian for a temporary part-time role on Vancouver Island. The position involves cleaning public facilities, setting up spaces for user groups, and basic building maintenance under supervision.

Ideal candidates will have Grade 10 or equivalent, knowledge of janitorial methods, and the ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status. A BC Class 5 driver's license and a WHMIS certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent with at least 3 months of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of standard janitorial methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status clearance.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
• WHMIS certificate.
• Ability to perform physically demanding duties in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication and diplomacy skills.
• Commitment to client service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in Town facilities.
• Sweeps, mops, waxes, buffs floors and cleans furniture and fixtures.
• Cleans restrooms, cleans walls/windows and replenishes supplies.
• Operates setup and removal of tables, chairs, and equipment for user groups.
• Opens, locks and secures facilities after use.
• Reports repairs to supervisor and tracks inventory levels.
• Maintains documentation of goods removed from inventory.
