Job summary

The role covers indoor/outdoor cleaning across West Vancouver facilities with shift options 6:00 am–2:00 pm or 3:00 pm–11:00 pm, effective immediately through 2027-06-30.

Qualifications

• High school completion up to Grade 10 is required.
• Building Service Worker Certificate required.
• Valid BC Driver's License required.
• Fire Safety Course required.
• Self-starter who can organize daily tasks and work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Good interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform duties (including climbing ladders and scaffolds).
• Desirable: Building Service Worker certifications; experience in school maintenance.

Responsibilities

• performs the full range of indoor and outdoor custodial duties as outlined in the Custodial Handbook using a variety of cleaning equipment.
• operates a variety of custodial equipment including automatic floor scrubber, tuckerpole, electric upright lift, carpet extractor, brush cleaner, basic hand tools, etc. mixes appropriate chemicals/compounds for cleaning; stores, secures chemicals and equipment after shift.
• performs minor maintenance duties (e.g. replaces switch cover plates, resets circuit breakers, changes lamps in fixtures, unplugs toilets and sinks, replaces furniture glides)
• performs other comparable duties as assigned which are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification as Building Service Worker (Division I, III, IV) by Canadian Building Servicing Association
• Previous experience in the maintenance of commercial or school buildings
