Part‑Time Elementary Teacher/Tutor
We are currently seeking part‑time teacher‑tutors for our learning centre at Oxford Learning Richmond Hill Elgin Mills. This position is ideal for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language and social studies, and is passionate about helping others build skills in these areas.
Employment Type & Compensation
Part‑time • Pay: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour.
Location
Oxford Learning Richmond Hill Elgin Mills • Richmond Hill, Ontario. Appointment is in‑person at 209A‑10720 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, ON. Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Richmond Hill area.
Schedule
You must be available for one of the following teaching blocks:
- Monday/Wednesday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Tuesday/Thursday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Wednesday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience are considered.
- Teaching certification is an asset.
- Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
- Some experience teaching or tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 9 (or equivalent) level.
- Strong English written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage up to three students simultaneously.
- Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to three students at a time at varying levels.
- Conduct sessions both online and in‑person.
- Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Fill in post‑lesson notes.
- Complete daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
