Job summary

Oxford Learning Markham East is seeking a part-time Elementary Teacher/Tutor to work with Kindergarten to Grade 8 students. Lessons are pre-planned, and staff receive full training in our proprietary method. Positions are after-school/evening Mon-Thu 4:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings 9:30–12:30.

The role is on-site with no relocation support. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with tutoring experience, is required; teaching certification is an asset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth-year university students with significant tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification is an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten-to-Grade-8 curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three students at a time at varying levels.
• Teach both online and in‑person.
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Complete post‑lesson notes.
• Send daily student communication updates.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Part‑Time Elementary Teacher/Tutor (Primary/Junior)

We are seeking part‑time teacher‑tutors to work in our learning centre at Oxford Learning Markham East.

All lessons are pre‑planned; teacher‑tutors receive full training in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

• All positions are at‑risk (after‑school and evening hours Mon‑Thu 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.).
• Commitment to the current term (ending June) and, ideally, through the summer.
• On‑site, in‑person work; relocation packages are not available.
• Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth‑year university students with significant tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification is an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten‑to‑Grade‑8 curriculum.

Experience

• Experience teaching or tutoring at a Kindergarten‑to‑Grade‑8 (or equivalent) level.
• Experience and confidence teaching both English and Math curriculum from Gr. 3‑8.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide student understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.

Job Type & Compensation

Part‑time – $17.60 per hour.

Schedule
