Job summary

Oxford Learning in Richmond Hill is seeking a Part-Time Elementary Math Tutor (Grades 1-8) to support students after school. The role is in person, with some Saturday sessions optional, and a focus on fostering understanding of math concepts.

Applicants should be university students, with strong math skills and good English communication. Teaching experience and knowledge of current curricula are assets; vulnerability screenings are required.

Qualifications

• Currently a university student eligible to teach, with math coursework.
• Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Excellent English written and oral communication.
• Teaching/tutoring math experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teaching up to 2 or 3 students at a time at different levels.
• Teaching online and in-person (though role is in-person).
• Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Filling in post‑lesson notes.
• Completing daily student communication updates.
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Job description

Part-Time Elementary Math Tutor (Grades 1-8)

Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $18.50 to $20.00 per hour

Schedule: 3:30pm - 8:00pm weekdays; 10:00am - 2:00pm Saturdays (optional). Preference for commitment until end of school year.

Position Requirements

All Teacher‑Tutors work during after‑school and evening hours on weekdays and some Saturdays. This is an in‑person position; relocation packages not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• University students considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Excellent knowledge of current Grades math curriculum

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring math
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
