Job summary

Oxford Learning Richmond Hill - Oak Ridges is seeking part-time tutors to help high school students with math and science, including calculus, algebra and biology. This role is in-person at our Richmond Hill learning centre with after-school hours.

Availability Mon–Fri 4:00pm–8:00pm, some Saturdays; strong math skills and communication required; teaching certification is an asset.

Qualifications

  • University student with strong knowledge of Grade 11-12 math, including calculus, algebra and trigonometry.
  • Experience tutoring or teaching math at high school level is preferred.
  • Able to guide students and explain concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Help high school students with math and science coursework.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and fill in post-lesson notes.
  • Provide daily student communication updates and maintain professionalism.

Part-Time High School Math & Science Tutor

Love Calculus and science? Eager to help High School students succeed in math, physics, chemistry and/or biology? Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Richmond Hill - Oak Ridges is currently seeking part-time tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $18.50 to $20.00 per hour

Position Requirements

All Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours: Mon - Fri 4:00pm - 8:00pm, with some Saturdays 10:30am - 2:30pm.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. No relocation packages are available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • University students with excellent knowledge of the current Grades 11-12 math curriculum, but not limited to Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, and vectors.
  • Teaching certification an asset
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math at Grades 11 and 12
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)
  • Helping High School students with their math School work
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
