Job summary

A local educational center in Richmond Hill is seeking a part-time High School Math & Physics Teacher/Tutor. This in-person role involves working with students in after-school hours, using pre-planned lessons to guide their understanding of math and physics. Ideal candidates hold a degree in a relevant field and have some experience teaching or tutoring at the Grades 9-12 level. A commitment through the school year and strong communication skills are essential. Competitive pay is offered between $19.00 to $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 level.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum.
  • Fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Completing daily student communication updates.

Skills

Strong English written and oral communication skills
Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Strong math skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
Teaching certification (an asset)

Job description

High School Math & Physics Teacher/Tutor

We are currently seeking part-time teacher‑tutors for our learning centre in Richmond Hill. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in math and physics.

Teacher‑tutors do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre‑planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher‑Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00 am – 3:00 pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in‑person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math including Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
