Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board invites applications for an Educational Assistant (50% term; 17.5 hours/week). You will support students with exceptional needs under the Principal's guidance, including those with Autism and developmental disabilities, in collaboration with teachers and other staff.

Responsibilities include modifying programs, assisting with deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students, and aiding in physiotherapy exercises.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child and Youth Care/Worker or equivalent.
• Minimum 1–2 years of related experience with school-aged children with exceptional needs.
• Valid First Aid/CPR Level C is an asset; training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Behaviour Management Systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs within the school.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement programs.
• Assist with pool programs and therapeutic activities.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students; assist with physiotherapy exercises.
• Modify programs for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues.
• Assist with outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool duties.
