Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs in a 35-hour work week term position. The successful candidate will work under the principal, collaborating with teachers and staff to adapt learning and provide confidential student support.

Required qualifications include a college diploma in DSW/CYW or equivalent and 1–2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of related experience with school aged children with exceptional needs.
• Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C is an asset.
• Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems training.
• Include copies of relevant diploma and/or certificates with application.

Responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities.
• Participate in pool programs, provide academic support, and implement special programs.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students; assist with physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
