Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant for a 50% term position (17.5 hours per week) from 12:00pm to 3:30pm to support students with exceptional needs.

Under the direction of the Principal, the EA collaborates with teachers and staff, assists with autism spectrum and developmental disability supports, and may participate in pool programs and other activities. A DSW/CYW diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• DSW/CYW or equivalent required.
• Autism experience and ability to support diverse learners.
• Experience with assistive technology and educational software.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention and behaviour management strategies.
• Ability to work in a team and adapt to student needs.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills and data recording.
• Willingness to assist with toileting, lifting, and feeding.

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs in regular and resource settings.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to implement programs.
• Assist with pool programs, physical and sensory supports.
• Modify programs for learning disabilities or speech/language needs.
• Monitor and document student progress and behaviour.
