Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs in an Ottawa setting. The role works with teachers and other professionals to implement individualized supports and participate in pool programs, with flexibility in duties as required.

The successful candidate will hold a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or equivalent, have autism experience, and be proficient with assistive tech.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs children.
• Diploma in Developmental Services/Child and Youth Care or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational communication software is an asset (Dragon, Kurzweil).

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs in collaboration with teachers and staff.
• Modify programs and support learning for students with LDs and speech/language issues.
• Assist with activities like pool/duty tasks and maintain safety and confidentiality.
