Part-Time Community-Based Personal Support Worker (PSW) for Weekends- Durham

We are looking for awesome, self‑driven Personal Support Workers to work throughout Durham Region. Please note, we are only looking to proceed with candidates who have part‑time weekend availability and meet the scheduling requirements below.

Scheduling Requirements

• Full‑time & part‑time positions available: PSW must be available for 12‑hour shifts particularly on Saturdays and Sundays.
• MUST be available Saturday and Sunday; flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred.
• MUST be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future.
• Available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans.
• Provide companionship and light housekeeping to help a person stay at home.
• Prepare meals in accordance with the client and/or the family's request (must be open to preparing different kinds of cuisine).
• Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs within the scope of practice for a PSW.
• Assist clients in all activities of daily living: hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth.
• Assist clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises.
• Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly.
• Function within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practice safely and competently within the job description.
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements

• MUST have a valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work.
• Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas of work; an asset if you can travel to rural or remote areas.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
• PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or international nursing/doctored certification.
• Negative TB test completed within the last year.
• Valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
• Valid WHMIS 2015 certificate of completion.
• COVID vaccination receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario's Human Rights Code.
• Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and diphtheria required; Hepatitis B immunization strongly urged.
• Valid criminal record check – must be completed within the last year.
• Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
• Requires good judgement, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team.
• Current/valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) registration an asset.
