Part‑time Community‑Based Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Durham

Schedule Requirements
- Full‑time position (37.5‑40 hours per week)
- Must be available Monday‑Friday, with flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred
- Must be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing weekly schedule for the foreseeable future
- Available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans
- Provide companionship and light housekeeping to help a person stay at home
- Prepare meals in accordance with the client’s or family’s request, being open to preparing different kinds of cuisine
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker
- Assist clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises
- Meet safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly
- Work within the limits of own experience and knowledge, practicing safely and competently within the job description
- Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a car for daily work
- Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas; asset for rural/remote travel
- Effective verbal and written communication in English
- PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or international nursing/doctorate certification
- Negative TB test completed within the last year
- Valid CPR/First Aid certificate
- Valid WHMIS 2015 certificate of completion
- COVID‑vaccination receipt (subject to exemption pursuant to Ontario’s Human Rights Code)
- Immunizations for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and diphtheria required; Hepatitis B strongly urged
- Valid criminal record check completed within the last year
- Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed
- Good judgment, ability to work independently, and to work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team
- Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) registration is an asset
