Job summary

Victoria Landing Retirement Residence is seeking a Bus Driver to support transportation for residents Tuesday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Under the Recreation Director, you will plan, direct and implement bus trips, ensure safety, and promote Resident Rights & Responsibilities.

The role requires supervising bus operations, maintaining logs, coordinating with contractors, and assisting with resident belongings and equipment handling.

Qualifications

• Requires Class 4 driver's license and driver's abstract.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe and efficient operation of the bus and equipment, maintaining vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
• Maintain a daily bus log including mileage and repairs information.
• Oversee vehicle work by outside contractors and ensure repairs meet standards.
• Assist in transporting residents' belongings for trips.
• Assist in receiving and storage of wheelchairs for trips.
• Act as a resource on vehicle equipment use and maintenance.
• Ensure security and cleaning of the bus, check locks and exits.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance and housekeeping products for the bus.
• Perform duties with minimal supervision and cooperate with all departments.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Victoria Landing Retirement Residence is seeking a Bus Driver

Tuesday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Under the direction of the Recreation Director, plans, directs and implements the bus trips of the facility. Responsible for the direction of the passengers.Understands, respects, and promotes the Resident Rights & Responsibilities.

Functions:

• 1. Supervises the safe and efficient operation of the bus and equipment, maintaining a high standard of vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
• 2. Maintain a daily bus log including mileage and other relevant information re: repairs etc.
• 3.Oversees the vehicle work being performed by outside contractors, ensuring that repairs meet standards set out by the facility and the Ministry of Transportation. Reports promptly to the Recreation Director/Executive Director about these repairs.
• 4.Participates and assists in the transportation of residents belongings for all bus trips
• 5. Participates in receiving and storage of wheelchairs etc. for trips.
• 6. Acts as a resource person to program staff on the use of vehicle equipment, and checks regularly to ensure equipment is utilized effectively and maintained satisfactorily.
• 7. Assumes responsibility for the security and cleaning of the bus; checks all locks, door bells, and emergency exits regularly.
• 8.Maintains inventory control of all products utilized in vehicle maintenance and housekeeping products for the bus.
• 9.Satisfactorily demonstrates skill, efficiency and diligence in performing all assigned duties with a minimum of supervision.
• 10.Works closely and cooperates with all other departments to facilitate smooth running activities and comfort/convenience for the resident.
• 11. Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
• 12. Performs other related duties as required.
