Job summary

Aspira Rockland Manor Retirement Living in Rockland, Ontario is seeking a casual on-call Bus Driver to support residents with safe and reliable transportation. Shifts cover vacations and open slots, with a minimum 3-hour shift and weekend availability required.

Responsibilities include assisting residents on/off the bus, maintaining vehicle safety, and ensuring timely arrivals to activities. We offer a supportive environment focused on resident well-being and community living.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Provincial driving permit for a bus.
• Clean Drivers Abstract.
• 1-2 years of experience as a driver.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience in customer service.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Pass Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents to scheduled activities and assist on/off the bus and crossing the street when stopped.
• Observe speed limits and road signs to ensure safety.
• Maintain the bus (gas, fluid levels, tires, oil, cleanliness).
• Maintain internal cleanliness of the bus.
• Perform related duties to ensure continuity and quality of services.

This is a Casual (On-Call) position covering vacations and open shifts.

• Daytime availability based on resident activities
• Shifts are a minimum of 3 hours
• Must have some weekend availably

What makes you a great fit?

• Transporting residents to scheduled activities and assists residents when they are getting on or off the bus and when they cross the street when the bus is stopped to ensure their safety
• Observing the speed limit and road signs
• Ensuring the maintenance of the bus such as filling the gas tank and windshield washer fluid, checking tire pressure, checking the oil and the cleanliness of the bus
• Maintaining the internal cleanliness of the bus
• Carrying out, if needed, all related tasks in order to ensure the continuity and the quality of the services.
• Performing other duties as assigned

What you need to know:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Appropriate provincial driving permit for a bus
• Clean Drivers Abstract
• 1-2 years of experience as a driver
• Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills
• Experience in customer service
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
