A First Nation organization is seeking an Animal Control Officer to ensure animal welfare within the Moose Factory community. The ideal candidate will have relevant training and experience in animal care and must be capable of handling large animals safely. This part-time role involves community engagement and assisting local authorities as required.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class G or G2 Driver’s License Required.
  • Physically capable of handling large animals, such as dogs.
  • Copies of diplomas/certificates/licenses must accompany resume.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protection to animal welfare within the community.
  • Liaison with off-reserve organizations for animal control measures.
  • Assist local authorities like Police and Firefighters.

Job description

The Animal Control Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of providing protection to animal welfare within the community of Moose Factory. This position is integral to protecting the community members, the animals, both domestic and non-domestic, and assisting all authorities such as Police, Fire fighters, and external pet agencies as required. The Animal Control Worker will work at 15 hours per week.

This position is for the entire community of Moose Factory Island and will liaison with Off Reserve organizations in assisting them in Animal Control Measures on an as needed basis.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Training in Animal Control handling preferred
  • How to capture animals safely and handle them with care and diligence
  • Physically capable of handling large animals namely dogs
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Valid Class G or G2 Driver’s License Required
  • First Aid and CPR Preferred
  • Copy of diplomas/certificates/licenses to accompany resume

Duration: Part-time at 15 hours per week
