Job summary

A local First Nation organization is seeking a Casual Animal Control Officer to protect animal welfare within the community of Moose Factory. Responsibilities include assisting authorities and ensuring safe handling of both domestic and wild animals. Training in animal control handling is preferred. This role operates on a casual on-call basis.

Qualifications

  • Training in Animal Control handling preferred.
  • Ability to capture and handle animals safely.
  • Outgoing with strong communication skills.
  • Physically capable of handling large animals, particularly dogs.
  • Need to work under minimal supervision.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protection to animal welfare within the Moose Factory community.
  • Assist authorities such as Police and Firefighters.
  • Operate on a casual, on-call basis as scheduled.

Overview

The Animal Control Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of providing protection to animal welfare within the community of Moose Factory. This position is integral to protecting the community members, the animals, both domestic and non-domestic, and assisting all authorities such as Police, Fire fighters, and external pet agencies as required. The Casual Animal Control Worker will be scheduled to work as need.

Scope

This position is for the entire community of Moose Factory Island and will liaison with Off Reserve organizations in assisting them in Animal Control Measures on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities
  • Provide protection to animal welfare within Moose Factory community.
  • Protect community members and animals (domestic and non-domestic).
  • Assist authorities such as Police, Fire fighters, and external pet agencies as required.
  • Operate on a casual, on-call basis as scheduled.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Training in Animal Control handling preferred
  • How to capture animals safely and handle them with care and diligence
  • Outgoing
  • Physically capable of handling large animals namely dogs
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License Required
  • First Aid and CPR Preferred
  • Copy of driver’s license required.
