Job summary

The County of Grande Prairie is seeking a collaborative and motivated Supervisor, Parks (temporary 6-months contract with a possibility of extension) to lead the operations, maintenance, and development of County parks, campgrounds, playgrounds, and open spaces.

Reporting to the Director, Recreation and Culture, you will supervise Park Hosts and seasonal staff, manage projects and contracts, support emergency preparedness, and contribute to park development and public safety.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation, Parks Management, or a related field.
• Three to five years of experience in a parks, recreation, or related operational environment.
• Three to five years of supervisory experience.
• Sound knowledge of park operations, maintenance practices, and budget management.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Valid First Aid certification.
• Ability to obtain acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations, maintenance, and development of County parks, campgrounds, playgrounds, and open spaces.
• Manage Park Hosts and seasonal staff; conduct performance reviews and staff development.
• Coordinate projects, contracts, budgeting, procurement, and capital planning.
• Ensure safe, welcoming spaces; respond to inquiries and support emergency preparedness.
• Inspect playgrounds and contribute to park development and infrastructure projects.
