Job summary

Pacific Western Transportation in Calgary, AB is hiring a Para-Transit Dispatcher to support the STS team. You will ensure daily coordination between drivers and STS Operations for safe, efficient runs and provide professional phone assistance while maintaining driver check-ins and route completion.

The role offers both full-time and part-time openings with varying shifts and on-site work. Training for Para-Transit and Class 4 licensing is provided to qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) driver’s license with a clear driving record.
• Map reading skills with knowledge of the city.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle driver, customer, and public concerns.
• Clear criminal record.
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all driver check-ins are accounted for
• Deal with unit breakdowns by facilitating communication between drivers and maintenance personnel, and ensure that the route involved is completed
• Provide tactful and professional phone assistance
• Administrative duties (such as filing and reports)
• Para-Transit training will be provided, as you may be required to cover a run if necessary; paid Class 4 training and licensing will be provided

Description

Para-Transit Dispatcher

Join our STS (Specialized Transportation Services) team! This department is responsible for safely transporting special needs customers on a daily basis and must be committed to providing superior service.

The Dispatcher is responsible for effective day-to-day communication between driving staff and STS Operations to ensure the safe and efficient completion of runs.

Multiple openings - both full-time and part-time positions available. For the full-time opening, shifts are weekdays, either 5:00 am to 1:30 pm or 4:00 pm to 12:00 am. Part-time shifts include weekdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and weekends from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm or 4:00 pm to 12:00 am.
