Job summary

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is hiring a Registered Practical Nurse for the Palliative Care unit. You will work under the Patient Care Manager to deliver care per a planned approach, collaborating with RNs on more complex cases.

The role involves beds for palliative, oncology, and general medical patients in a busy department. Applicants must be registered with CNO, hold current BCLS, and have completed an RPN medication course.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current BCLS.
• Completed medication course for RPNs.
• Patient assessment skills within the RPN scope.
• Must be willing to work with mixed aggregation of patients.
• Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated excellent problem-solving, decision making and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, time-management and team building skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced demanding environment.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
• Demonstrated focus on internal/external customer service and partnerships.
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN's Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care per a pre-set plan within RPN scope.
