Position reports to: Location Manager
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Quality Control – activities include:
- Ability to use & understand work orders and Kirmac’s mapping system
- Inspecting panels and parts requiring refinish for chips and dings
- Inspecting the quality of body repairs
- Completing the quality control checklist after each stage of the repair process
- Ensuring adjacent panels and parts are cleaned
- Ensuring inners of panels and parts are cleaned
- Inspecting repairs to ensure all damage was identified and repaired
- Inspecting new parts and panels for imperfections (dings, rough edges)
- Ensuring clothing and coveralls are kept clean
- Initial Prep – following Kirmac’s SOPs to complete the following activities efficiently:
- Sanding and masking to repaired areas requiring primer
- Spraying Primer
- Final Prep –following Kirmac’s SOPs to complete the following activities efficiently:
- Scuffing new parts and panels
- Prepping raw plastic parts
- Prepping primed areas
- Prepping blend panels
- Masking vehicles, parts and panels
- Facility Maintenance – activities include maintaining, organizing and cleaning the following:
- Work areas
- Mixing Room
- Shop supplied and personal spray guns
- Spray booth (including filters)
- Other – activities and abilities include:
- Ability to solving problems on your own.
- Sheet Metal Repairs – Ability to perform the following activities:
- Spray – Ability to consistently perform the following paint operations efficiently, without imperfections (dust nibs and runs) and good colour match:
- Inners
- 1-panel jobs
- 2-panel jobs
- Polishing – Ability to perform the following activities:
- Wet sand and buff dust nibs and clear coat runs
- Three stage polishing
- Spray – Ability to consistently perform the following paint operations efficiently, without imperfections (dust nibs and runs) and good colour match:
- 3+ panel jobs
- Complete side of vehicle
- Both sides of a vehicle
- Rear End
- Complete
- Tri-Coat
- Health & Safety - Using best practices from our Health & Safety Manual and Respiratory Program.
Qualifications:
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Red Seal Certification – Automotive Refinishing Certificate required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in an automotive collision repair industry.
- Competency on colour matching is required.
- Thoroughness in accomplishing a task through concern for all areas involved, situation and/or work-related problem as a means of achieving optimal efficiency and effectiveness in performing job duties.
- Ability to provide leadership by fostering learning or development of others based on operation needs and future objectives.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse personalities in a tactful, decisive, and resourceful manner.
- Capability to achieve efficient, timely, quality results by directing efforts on expected outcomes while providing exemplary client service within expected timeframes.
Working Conditions:
- Works mainly indoors.
- Will work near moving mechanical parts.
- Required to wear PPE occasionally such as respiratory equipment, steel toe boots, gloves & protective eyewear.
- Standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasional, direct, and indirect exposure to hazardous materials while in the paint booth and walking the shop grounds.
- Required to drive customer cars when moving them around the shop.
- Intermittent exposure to loud noises when in the shop.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions outlined above, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to lift 30 – 50 pounds
