Job description

Kaycan has an exciting career opportunity for a Paint Operator based in Smith Falls to join our team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

Shift : 12 hour shift / Rotate every two weeks

The primary purpose of the entry operator position is to maintain visual inspection for quality control, production reporting, obtain coils from stock in accordance with schedule, and place coils on mandrels to allow continuous operations. The employee ensures constant high-quality production by working safely, efficiently, and minimizing scrap, damage, accidents, or incidents.

Duties :

1. Verify with the outgoing entry operator any problems experienced on the previous shift. Never leave the workstation unattended while the line is running unless permitted by the supervisor or delegate.
2. Ensure appropriate coils are taken from stock to satisfy schedule requirements.
3. Assist the line operator and/or supervisor in training and orienting new employees or transfers to the entry operator position.
4. If the line goes down, assist in restoring operation by following supervisor instructions. Remember, teamwork leads to rapid corrective actions.
5. Assist with paint and roll changes as instructed by your line operator or supervisor.
6. Assist with maintenance on the paintline at your workstation, provided it does not conflict with primary duties.
7. Record all data accurately on the appropriate sheets.
8. Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including floor sweeping.
9. Ensure cores are taped and stored properly when a skid is full, no higher than head level.
10. Remove scrap skid and replace with an empty one, no higher than waist level.
11. Empty and replace the ban chopper barrel when full.
12. Pile skid tops and cardboard on a skid and replace when it reaches waist level.
13. Ensure garbage is emptied and the floor is debris-free before shift end.
