Job summary

Nortera Foods Inc. is hiring a production operator to join a team that grows together. Operate process control machinery to mix, blend, and package vegetable products, and manage start-up and shutdown, adjusting variables as needed.

You will work on 12-hour continental shifts, earn $24.21–$25.50 per hour, with benefits and opportunities for development. Prior machine operating experience in a food processing environment is preferred, plus English proficiency.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of prior machine operating experience required.
• Previous experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
• Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English at a Level 3 requirement.
• Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate multi-function and/or single function process control machinery to mix, blend, and package vegetable food products.
• Manage start up and shut down processes and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
• Adjust processing variables such as ingredient inputs, fill weight, flow rates, line speeds, and temperature settings.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Operate packaging line machines safely and properly according to SOPs and GMPs.
• Maintain shift logs and production data.
• Participate in safety audits and food safety programs.

This position requires flexible availability to follow a continental, rotating schedule on continental 12 hour shifts.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate multi-function and/or single function process control machinery through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems to mix, blend, and package vegetable food products.
• Manage start up and shut down process and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
• Adjust processing variables such as ingredient inputs, fill weight, flow rates, line speeds, and temperature settings as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Operate packaging line machines safely and properly according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Maintain shift logs, record production data and other relevant information.
• Participate in safety audits, food safety programs, and emergency response initiatives.Prepare equipment for maintenance activities.
• Other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES

• 1-3 years of prior machine operating experience required.
• Previous experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
• Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English at a Level 3 requirement.
• Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
• Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, wet, cold and soapy work areas.
• Flexible to work 12 hour continental shift rotation and open to on-call shifts including over-time.
• This position is a heavy lifting capability role (lift up to 32kgs, multiple times as needed in a shift).
• Demonstrate punctuality, reliability and willingness to learn.
• Proven ability to work diligently as a team in a fast-paced environment with tight time restrictions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
• Specific vision abilities are required by this job to include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Hourly wage is $24.21 - 25.5/hour (Depending on prior experience and qualifications).
