Nortera Foods Inc. in Canada is hiring a Packaging Machine Operator to operate multi-function and single-function packaging equipment for vegetable products.

The role requires following a 12-hour continental shift with rotating days, and maintaining quality and safety standards on the line. You will troubleshoot, adjust processing variables, document production data, and support maintenance and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of prior machine operating experience required.
• Experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English at Level 3.
• Able to lift up to 32 kg and work in a refrigerated, wet environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to mix, blend, and package vegetable products.
• Manage start-up and shut-down processes and troubleshoot issues.
• Adjust inputs, weights, flow rates, speeds, and temperatures.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Run packaging lines safely per SOPs and GMPs.
• Maintain shift logs and production data.
• Support safety audits and emergency response initiatives.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Packaging Machine Operator will operate multi-function process control machinery or single function machines to process and package vegetable products. This position requires flexible availability to follow a continental, rotating schedule on continental 12 hour shifts.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate multi-function and/or single function process control machinery through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems to mix, blend, and package vegetable food products.
• Manage start up and shut down process and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
• Adjust processing variables such as ingredient inputs, fill weight, flow rates, line speeds, and temperature settings as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
• Operate packaging line machines safely and properly according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Maintain shift logs, record production data and other relevant information.
• Participate in safety audits, food safety programs, and emergency response initiatives.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance activities.
• Other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

• 1-3 years of prior machine operating experience required.
• Previous experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
• Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English at a Level 3 requirement.
• Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
• Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment, wet, cold and soapy work areas.
• Flexible to work 12 hour continental shift rotation and open to on-call shifts including over-time.
• This position is a heavy lifting capability role (lift up to 32kgs, multiple times as needed in a shift).
• Demonstrate punctuality, reliability and willingness to learn.
• Proven ability to work diligently as a team in a fast-paced environment with tight time restrictions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
• Specific vision abilities are required by this job to include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Hourly wage is $24.21 - 25.5/hour (Depending on prior experience and qualifications).
