Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Professional Security Guard for a shelter in Hamilton, ON. The role is full-time with an overnight schedule from 11pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, at a rate of $21.40 per hour.

You will monitor facility access, de-escalate conflicts, respond to emergencies, and help maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate has experience with access control, CCTV and alarm monitoring, strong reporting skills, and a valid Ontario Security Guard

Qualifications

• Knowledge of access control and alarm monitoring systems.
• Experience with incident reporting and maintaining logs.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and de-escalate conflicts.
• Must be able to patrol the site independently overnight.

Responsibilities

• Monitor facility access and ensure only authorized individuals enter.
• Address and de-escalate disputes between residents, guests, or staff.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and assist in evacuations as needed.
• Conduct regular patrols to maintain safety and secure doors after hours.
• Document incidents clearly and timely, and communicate with supervisors.
• Maintain a visible presence to deter negative behaviours in the shelter.
• Collaborate with shelter staff to implement security protocols.
