Job summary

Alstom is seeking a maintenance professional to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems on coaches and locomotives. Outpost duties include training at Willowbrook or Whitby, ensuring safety protocols, and maintaining readiness for dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems on coaches and locomotives.
  • Shutting down consist power and placing it on wayside power, ensuring proper dispatch setup.
  • Applying 575 volts layover cables and ensuring the layover system operates correctly.
  • Performing comprehensive interior and exterior checks on coaches and locomotives.
  • Securing consist with activated radio alarm systems.
  • Maintaining minor materials at the outpost station.
  • Communicating with the control tower for duty updates.
  • Reporting abnormalities and preparing detailed reports.
  • Preparing consist for dispatch, including starting Main and HEP engines.
  • Undertaking training and testing related to Outpost Location duties at the nearest Zone (Willowbrook or Whitby).

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your troubleshooting and repair expertise in a new cutting‑edge field. You’ll work alongside dynamic and supportive teammates. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our coaches and locomotives. Day‑to‑day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as dispatchers, control tower operators, and maintenance staff), perform routine inspections and repairs, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, but also ensure proper set‑up and operation of layover systems.
