Qualifications

Position Overview

Under the direction and supervision of a physician, performs duties related to the application, maintenance and removal of casts and orthopedic traction, maintains ortho room supplies and orthopedic/traction carts. Under the direction of Profession Leader-Physiotherapy or designate, performs assigned routine duties related to the care of patients in the Physiotherapy Department.

Experience
  • Previous experience, as a Health Care aide on an Orthopedic Unit or prior work experience in a Cast Clinic is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 education.
  • Must write and pass the examination offered by the Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists within two years from the date of hire.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • A member of good standing of the Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate good organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time and do heavy lifting.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
