Your Opportunity:
The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars guide the development and delivery of services to all patients and families at SHC. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Emergency Department will work as an essential member of the South Health Campus Emergency Department team, caring for both adult and pediatric patients of varying acuity.
Description:
As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction equipment used in the care of orthopaedic patients. You will observe, monitor, report, and document changes in the patient's physical, mental, and emotional state, providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in delivering safe, patient- and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
- Active or eligible registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- Current certification with Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists (CSOT).
- Calgary Zone Adult Emergency/Urgent Care ROT/full scope LPN experience preferred; other Emergency/UC experience will be considered. Post-LPN immunization certification and registration with CLPNA are preferred.
