Job summary

RANOVUS in Ottawa, Canada, is seeking an Optical Engineer to join the Optical System Integration / Verification team. You will implement and test electrical and optical hardware for leading-edge modules used in data centers.

Collaborate cross-functionally, design test plans, build lab setups, and develop automated scripts to capture measurements. A strong background in optics and related programming is essential, with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in optical systems or opto-electronics devices.
  • Knowledge of optical systems and components, digital communication systems, HW, PCB, SW/FW.
  • Experience in Python or Matlab.
  • Lab environment experience and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with photonics, hardware and software teams to bring-up and validate optical engine performance.
  • Develop detailed optical performance test plans and test strategies.
  • Establish complex lab setups using high-speed electrical/optical lab equipment.
  • Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts to adjust operating conditions and capture data.
  • Root-cause analysis of optical performance issues with design teams.
  • Create test reports that summarize test results, key findings, and fixes.
  • Support interworking between R&D and marketing teams.
  • Collaborate with external instrument vendors for equipment procurement.
