Job summary

Vision Group in Ontario seeks an Ophthalmic Technician (Opticianry graduate or science graduate) to join a LASIK MD clinic. The role focuses on patient care and supports the clinic’s patient-safety programs.

You will perform measurements, review imaging, and liaise with the team to ensure high-quality eye care. Travelling to other clinics is required, with expenses covered by Vision Group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science (BSc) or related field.
• Opticianry program (license not required).
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, with clear explanations to patients.
• Review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
• Be knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
• Provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
• Support Risk Management by identifying and reporting patient safety concerns and risks.

The wage range for this role is between $28.30 - $33.96/hr.

Your tasks at a glance

• You complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
• You review imaging maps to validatetheir accuracy.
• You are knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
• You provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

A clear view of your assets

• You are a graduate of a Bachelor's program in science (Bsc), an Opticianry program (license not required), a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You are motivated tolearn how to use various diagnostic and testingtools.
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• Your experience in an eye-care environment is an asset.
• Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Required: You are comfortable traveling to other clinics for training (and/or) work (expenses covered by Vision Group).
