Job summary

Paladin Security in Burnaby is seeking a Part-Time Operator to monitor live video feeds from our Operations Centre. The role requires quick decision-making to handle alarm events and incidents while maintaining professionalism; you will use verbal communication over a two-way radio to deter active crime.

This office-based position supports multiple client sites, with 1 PT shift: Fri & Sat 2359–0800 and a pay rate of $25.00/hour. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of work experience as a Security Officer or in a monitoring dispatch environment.
• Excellent situational awareness, judgement, and decision-making under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently in an Operations Centre.
• Experience with security monitoring platforms and technology.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live video feeds, alarms, and cameras across multiple client sites.
• Identify and assess security-related incidents in real time; follow intervention and escalation protocols.
• Utilize the talkdown system to communicate and deescalate potentially threatening situations.
• Act quickly and decisively when handling alarm events and close events with right outcomes.
• Follow site instructions and ensure compliance with standard procedures.
• Log activities, dispatches, and documents for all events; document incidents and actions taken.
• Communicate with emergency responders and clients during critical events.
• Pass clear, concise information to the next Operator or shift.
• Perform other duties as required to meet operational needs.

As an Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring live video feeds while based within our Operations Centre in Burnaby. The role requires quick decision-making and the ability to handle alarm events and incidents efficiently while maintaining professionalism. You should be comfortable working independently, and be confident and assertive to use verbal communication over a two-way radio to deter active crime.

Location: This role is fully office-based in our Operations Centre in Burnaby.

Shifts: We currently have 1 Part-Time Operator position open:

PT: Fri & Sat 2359–0800

Pay Rate: $25.00/ hour

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience as a Security Officer and/or in a monitoring dispatch environment
• Excellent situational awareness, judgement, and decision-making under pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working independently in an Operations Centre environment
• Comfortable with using security monitoring platforms and technology
• Experience with Immix GF is considered an asset
• Ability to notice and act on small details that could be crucial in preventing security breaches

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Monitor live video feeds, alarms, and cameras across multiple client sites
• Identify and assess security-related incidents in real time; follow intervention and escalation protocols
• Utilize the "talkdown" system to communicate and deescalate the potentially threatening situations, maintaining confidence and authority
• Act quickly and decisively when handling alarm events, taking appropriate action and close the events with right outcomes
• Follow the set instructions for each site and ensure compliance with standard procedures
• Log activities, mobile dispatches, and documents for all events; accurately document incidents, alarms and actions taken on reports for management and clients
• Communicate with emergency responders and/or clients during critical events
• Ensure that all necessary information is passed on to the next Operator or shift in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
• Perform other duties as required to meet operational needs
