Job summary

Fuze HR Solutions is seeking an Operations Technician (Relief) for a Waterdown, ON operation. The role centers on hands-on production and equipment operation, with responsibilities for basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have solid mechanical aptitude, experience around manufacturing equipment, and the ability to safely operate forklifts, loaders and scissor lifts. Millwright training is an asset but not mandatory.

Operations Technician (Relief)

Location: Waterdown, ON
Compensation: $29–$32/hour
Schedule: Primarily Days – 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
Relief Coverage: Occasional night coverage, based on business needs, call-ins and vacation coverage

Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Operations Technician (Relief) to join a manufacturing operation in Waterdown. This is a hands-on role focused primarily on production and equipment operation, with additional responsibility for basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working around manufacturing equipment, and the ability to safely operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders and scissor lifts.

A certified Millwright is not required, although skilled trades experience is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate production and processing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and maintain production flow.
• Load and unload materials and customer products.
• Operate forklifts, front-end loaders and scissor lifts.
• Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality and oversize materials.
• Monitor quality and complete required production and quality records.
• Operate control panels and equipment through PLC-based interfaces.
• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and adjustments.
• Assist with preventative maintenance activities.
• Replace screens, adjust conveyor belts and perform other basic maintenance tasks as trained.
• Report equipment issues, inconsistencies and non-conformities to management.
• Follow SOPs, safety procedures and environmental requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized production area.
• Assist with training new employees when required.
• Work safely at heights using appropriate fall-protection equipment.
• Perform other duties as required by plant management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
• Experience operating manufacturing equipment with continuous-flow processes is highly preferred.
• Previous experience in chemical processing or a similar industrial environment is an asset.
• Valid forklift licence and experience operating a forklift, front-end loader and/or scissor lift.
• Ability to multitask and work independently while following a production plan.
• Comfortable working with production equipment, conveyors and automated systems.
• Basic computer skills, including email and production documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Millwright, welding or other mechanical trades training is an asset but not mandatory.
