Job summary

SANEXEN is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee activities across project sites in Canada. You will coordinate with Superintendents and Foremen, support mobilization, and resolve operational issues to keep projects safe, efficient, and profitable.

The role requires field-oriented leadership with experience in excavation, shoring, and earthworks, and travel across Canada. Strong judgment, communication, and bilingual French-English abilities are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in construction site management, ideally in excavation, earthworks, shoring, or related activities.
  • Experience supervising Superintendents, Foremen, or field teams.
  • Strong understanding of the operational realities of construction sites.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong field leadership, autonomy, and sound judgment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with individuals at various levels, particularly field teams.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected situations.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project start-up and mobilization activities and ensure the availability of required resources and equipment.
  • Conduct regular site visits, monitor project progress, and respond promptly to operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with schedules, work methods, and contractual requirements.
  • Optimize the use of labour, equipment, and other resources.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure effective coordination of operations.
  • Act as a resource person for field teams, provide coaching, and foster a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Participate in the onboarding, development, and performance evaluation of employees under their responsibility.
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across project sites.
  • Ensure that work-related risks are identified and that appropriate control measures are implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, work methods, and quality standards.
  • Participate in incident investigations and the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Monitor the operational performance of project sites.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor costs, productivity, and project schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work methods and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in project planning and performance review meetings.

Sanexen is seeking a Operations Manager to oversee operations across various project sites throughout Canada.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director – Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing activities across multiple environmental projects. The incumbent supports Superintendents and Foremen, participates in project mobilization and start-up activities, and helps resolve operational issues to ensure work is executed efficiently, safely, and profitably.

We are looking for a field-oriented professional with experience in excavation, shoring, earthworks, or related construction activities, who is capable of mobilizing teams, making sound decisions, and managing priorities independently. Experience in the environmental sector is considered an asset but is not required.

This position requires frequent travel to project sites across Canada. The incumbent is responsible for organizing their schedule independently based on operational needs and priorities.

Main responsibilities
