Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an Operations Lead Hand in Edmonton, AB to support field supervision and daily transport operations. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and timely service, acting as a liaison between drivers and dispatch to maintain schedules and quality.

You will gain hands-on leadership experience in a busy waste management operation. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, coordinating with dispatch, and ensuring compliance with company

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License with air endorsement and a clean driving record.
• Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience; some supervisory exposure preferred.
• Experience with side-loaders, rear packers, front end, and roll-off vehicles is a plus.
• Strong safety mindset; ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections and investigations.
• Reliable with ability to start early and handle overtime when needed.
• Proficient with Google Workspace; familiarity with dispatch programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: oversee driver training and assess driving habits.
• Safety Inspections: ensure thorough pre/post-trip inspections and logs.
• Delivering Excellence: liaise between dispatch and drivers to meet schedules and service needs.
• System Operations: enforce company policies and driver training.
• Reporting & Maintenance: address write-ups, hazards, and coordinate with other departments.
• Service Quality: maintain route productivity, customer service, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: adhere to traffic laws, bylaws, PPE standards.
• Team Collaboration: work with drivers, dispatchers, customer service and supervisors.
• Additional Duties: perform other operational tasks as assigned.
