Job summary

Sobeys Inc. in Dartmouth, NS is seeking an organized operations coordinator to support supervisors and team leads in our fast-paced distribution centre. You will help manage daily flow, allocate work, and keep staff engaged while ensuring safety and efficiency.

You will work with warehouse systems to optimize task allocation, participate in staff training, monitor inventory and equipment, and assist with shipping/receiving coverage. Strong communication and a proactive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma is required.
• Minimum 2 years in distribution or personnel management.
• Proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
• Ability to manage time and priorities under pressure.
• Proven multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of the listed systems (EXE, SAP, BW, C3, TMS, Verisae).

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisors and team leads to coordinate daily operations.
• Use warehouse management system to allocate work and staff.
• Support training of employees on procedures and safety SOPs.
• Perform daily inventory checks of pallets and monitor equipment.
• Provide coverage to shipping/receiving teams and admin staff.
• Participate in audits, investigations, and action follow-ups.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting supervisors and team leads, ensuring smooth daily operations, and helping employees stay engaged and productive. Here’s Where You’ll Have An Impact

• Assist in making real time decisions using a warehouse management system to allocate work and staff in the most effective manner (rearrange tasks based on work needed).
• Seek improvements and innovations to optimize performance and productivity (typically, the coordinator acts as a participant in a lead project by the foreperson/senior foreperson).
• Take and active role with employees and encourage their involvement.
• Participate in training employees on procedures, health and safety, SOPs.
• Perform daily inventory of pallets.
• Track and monitor warehouse equipment including preventative maintenance scheduling/tracking.
• Ensure the replenishment of warehouse supplies.
• Provide support and coverage to shipping/receiving team leads and administration.
• Conduct customer investigations and escalation as required.
• Participate as a member of the JOHSC committee.
• Conduct injury/accident investigations, reporting, and follow-up with employees.
• All other duties assigned by management.
• Corrective actions resulting from audits or employee feedback.
• Monitor and track transport equipment for maintenance, licensing etc.
• All other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To The Table

• Post-secondary degree or diploma
• A minimum of 2 years in distribution or personnel management (any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent will be considered)
• Proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
• Manages time and priorities effectively and maintains composure in stressful situations.
• Proven ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of EXE, SAP, BW, C3, TMS, Verisae & TMS.
• Valid driver’s License is essential.
• Technically inclined to troubleshoot.
