Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is seeking an Overnight Team Lead for our Distribution Centre in Canada. This role directs selection, loading, forklift and support staff to ensure accurate product allocation to stores and affiliates. You will report to the Shift Lead Operations and help maintain a safe, productive environment.

The overnight shift runs 11pm–7am, with weekend availability required. You will guide team members, ensure safety standards, and collaborate with managers to enhance operational performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in a Retail Support Centre (RSC).
• Experience with Material Handling Equipment.
• Post-secondary diploma/degree or relevant work experience.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, information, supervision, and facilities to encourage safe work practices.
• Maintain integrity of EXE productivity.
• Maintain integrity of health and safety checklists and inspections.
• Participate on the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee as required.
• Collaborate with Shift Leads and Managers to identify problems and drive improvements.
• Comply with all RSC audit expectations (OH&S, etc.).
• Promote a safe work culture and monitor productivity reports to develop improvement strategies.
• Ensure accurate implementation of new or revised RSC programs and standards.

Reporting to the assigned Shift Lead Operations, the Team Leads control and direct all selection, loading, forklift, and support staff to ensure the accurate selection of product to all stores and affiliates. Actively contribute to a positive, productive, and safe working environment.

Overnight shift 11pm-7am, requiring availability to work both days of the weekends.

• Coach, counsel, and discipline as required
• Adhere and implement all applicable company safety standards
• Maintain sanitation standards
• Promote employee engagement, mission and purpose
• Performs special projects and other duties as required

What You Bring To The Table

• Minimum of two years' experience in a Retail Support Centre (RSC)
• Previous experience with Material Handling Equipment
• Proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, EXE, SAP and WMS.
• Post Secondary Diploma/Degree or relevant Work Experience
• Full engagement with colleagues and warehouse staff
• Well-rounded individual detail oriented with strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Familiarity with the Western and Prairie Road network
• Supervise and performance manage a team
• May be required to lift to 50 lbs
• Sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time
• Flexible in their schedule working days, evening or nights as all other duties are required
