Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Cambridge, ON is seeking a skilled engineer to provide site engineering support for Reactor Pressure Vessel manufacturing. The role requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and significant experience in the nuclear sector. This position involves coordinating design deliverables, overseeing fabrication activities, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada and relevant experience in technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in energy business (nuclear preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with ASME section III or CSA N285.0.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in nuclear power plant fabrication.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the fabrication of a nuclear power plant and/or plant modifications.
  • 2+ years of experience in a program or technical leadership role.
  • 2+ years of experience working with customers, regulators and suppliers.
  • This position requires access to information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws and U.S. DOE authorization requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide site engineering support for Reactor Pressure Vessel manufacturing.
  • Coordinate design deliverables for fabrication.
  • Monitor on-site fabrication activities and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Address technical issues arising between construction, fabrication and design teams.
  • Monitor progress and ensure adherence to safety regulations.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in energy business (nuclear preferred) or equivalent technical environment

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the fabrication of a nuclear power plant and/or plant modifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a program or technical leadership role

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with customers, regulators and suppliers

  • This position requires access to and/or use of information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws, which mandate all citizenships be from the U.S. Department of Energy’s List of Generally Authorized Countries (10 CFR Part 810 Appendix A); otherwise a specific authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy will be required.

  • You must have legal authorization to work in Canada



Nice to Have Skills & Experience


  • Role will be working 5 days/week (8-5) on-site fabrication shop in Cambridge, ON, nights and weekend may be required infrequently (flex schedule would be implemented when needed)



Job Description

This engineer will play a crucial role in providing site engineering support, collaborating with vendor organizations to drive efficient Reactor Pressure Vessel manufacturing and testing. The engineer will be responsible for coordinating design deliverables needed to facilitate fabrication, fabrication drawing and procedure approvals, and ongoing design changes that impact fabrication. This individual will oversee all fabrication related activities on-site, ensuring that projects are fabricated in accordance with plans and specifications, addressing technical issues that arise between the construction, fabrication, and design teams, and monitoring progress while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
