Job summary

Northern Lights College in British Columbia is seeking a sessional online instructor to teach CRIM 230: Criminal Law via MS Teams. Course delivery will occur online with instruction and preparation, beginning January 2027.

Contract covers 45 hours of instruction, 45 hours of prep, and 6 hours for distance delivery, totaling 96 hours for the December 2026 – April 2027 term under the BCGEU agreement.

Qualifications

• JD/LLB (or NCA certificate of qualification).
• Current or former membership in good standing with the Law Society of BC or another Canadian law society.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Committed to student motivation and success; and the
• Ability to collaborate as an effective team member.

Responsibilities

• Teach the section of CRIM 230 as indicated below using MS Office Teams.
• CRIM 230: Criminal Law – basic principles of criminal law, actus reus, mens rea, offences, and defenses.
• Contract hours: 45 hours of instruction, 45 hours of prep and 6 hours for distance delivery.
• Course delivery will begin on January 4, 2027.
