Job summary

Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for CRJS 385 and CRJS 480, ending February 15, 2027. The role supports online learners, providing academic assistance, grading, and record-keeping while leveraging distance-learning tools.

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Criminal Justice or a related field, have post-secondary teaching experience, and be comfortable with Brightspace and online delivery methods.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Law, or a related field required; PhD preferred.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in criminal justice, policing, corrections, governance, and policy.
• Post-secondary teaching experience; familiarity with distance learning and Brightspace is an asset.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills; ability to maintain records and timely feedback.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to students and mark assignments.
• Record final grades and maintain student records per service standards.
• Deliver tutorials in a distance-learning environment using Brightspace and related tools.
